In Roodhouse, Illinois, an unnamed 16-year-old boy along with several associates was engaged in the vandalism of a local cemetery...about 40 headstones were damaged in the "spree." When the boy in question found himself pinned underneath a toppled 600 pound gravestone it took four firefighters to lift the stone...but it made it a LOT easier for police to identify the guilty party.
In Daytona Beach, Florida, Dennis Crouch, 53, depressed, and having put away copious amounts of alcohol with friends, had already cut himself and then refused to drop said knife, despite directions from Daytona Beach police Officer Betsy Cassidy to do so. Lacking a better option, she fired her taser at Dennis...whereupon 50,000 volts coursed through Dennis. However, before connecting witht Dennis, it passed through the pocket of his shirt, the pocket that contained a butane lighter, a butane lighter that, coming in contact with 50,000 volts, exploded in flames. In the understated words of the police report, "The subject immediately dropped the knife."
In Owosso, Michigan, police arrived at the scene of a robbery at a convenience store where they found a broken glass door, and evidence that the perpetrators had made off with beer and cigarettes. The perpetrators carted their ill-gotten goods away in a shopping cart that, in the new fallen snow, left tracks that they followed straight to the door of a 19-year old and a 20-year-old accomplice who confessed to the break-in.
In Darmstadt, Germany, an unnamed 52-year-old tried in vain to get a refund of some $475 worth of "bad marijuana" from his dealer before turning to the police for help. He was charged with drug possession and police confiscated the 200 grams of mari.juana he brought with him to the police station.
