The nonprofit Family Service Association of San Antonio (TX) has just 96 employees. Yet as a result of outsourcing their human resources function to Administaff, those workers are getting many of the same benefits as their colleagues at larger organizations.
Joining the ranks of Delta Air Lines, PepsiCo and other corporate giants, the Family Service Association is among a number of organizations nationwide contracting with vendors to handle human resources tasks.
The association has an HR coordinator, but its payroll processing, benefits management, legal compliance and worker's compensation claims are handled by Administaff, a professional employer organization (PEO).
About 700 PEOs nationwide handle benefits packages for an estimated 2 million to 3 million American workers, according to National Association of Professional Employer Organizations (NAPEO).
Administaff handles benefits for about 90,000 workers at 4,900 companies in the U.S.
